Red Window Communications’ executive leaders recently shared the stage with industry leaders and students at the IMC Connect! Conference 2024, hosted by the University of Mississippi School of Journalism and New Media.

ICM Connect! connects senior leaders in integrated marketing communications (IMC) from both research and practice. Red Window’s Lucy Schultze and Kelley Hunsberger engaged in panel discussions while Justin Elliott Thompson provided video coverage for the event.

The annual event is chaired by Dr. Amanda Bradshaw, assistant professor of Integrated Marketing Communications, and planned and hosted by the graduate students in her IMC 580 Event Planning and Management course.

Held March 25-27, 2024, IMC Connect! hosted senior communication leaders from well-known brands including Boeing, The Las Vegas Raiders, Carnival Cruise Line, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, FedEx, Toyota of Mississippi, and CVS. Additionally, academics from University of Florida, The Pennsylvania State University, California State University of NorthRidge, University of South Carolina joined the discussions. Sessions delved into critical insights related to crisis communication, branding and visual communication, internal communications, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

Lucy Schultze, founder and CEO of Red Window, joined as a panelist in the “Thriving & Surviving at Agencies” session, a discussion of what it takes for students to get a foot in the door of marketing agencies and to excel in the fast-paced, collaborative agency world. The panel included Ole Miss Alumna Amanda Brown-Olmstead, who started the first female-owned agency in Atlanta 51 years ago and whose business continues to thrive; and Radina Russell, head of Edelman’s U.S. corporate communication practice.

“Dr. Bradshaw and her students have done a fantastic job organizing and smoothly executing this opportunity for IMC students,” said Schultze, who encouraged student attendees to build out portfolios to show—not just tell—agencies what they can do.

Kelley Hunsberger, managing director at Red Window, participated in the panel in “Navigating the Social Media Landscape: Trends and Insights,” a comprehensive exploration of the ever-changing social media landscape.

“The IMC students attending the event took full advantage of the opportunity and asked thoughtful questions,” said Hunsberger. “For example, one student asked about working in social media and how to have boundaries between their public and private personas, to protect their mental health.”

Weighing in on such questions with Hunsberger were panelists Lisa Houghton, former vice president, communications and external affairs with BP; Will Kiss, senior director of media relations with the Las Vegas Raiders; Marti Powers, vice president of communications for Boeing Defense, Space & Security; Jenny Robertson, senior vice president, global brand and communications at FedEx; and Jeffrey Young, vice president, marketing and communications, with the National Hot Rod Association.

Justin Elliott Thompson, Red Window’s video content producer, provided video coverage of the three days of the event as part of Red Window's sponsorship of the 2024 event. End-of-day video recaps shared on social media helped fuel excitement for the next day's event, and will be used as part of pre-conference marketing ahead of the 2025 event.
